Time for a conversation [closed to Alissa]

Leoben hadn't been looking forward to this conversation, but it had to be done. His son would be leaving the hospital soon and Kyla and he would be moving in to stay with him.

Unfortunately, Kyla had made it quite clear she did not want Alissa to stay with them. It saddened him, but he couldn't help but agree. A Terminator, even one that was partly human, could not stay with one Connor, let alone two of them. It was just asking for trouble. Sighing, Leoben entered his and Alissa's room, setting the pizza he'd bought on the table. Scanning the room he called out, "Alissa? Are you here?"

She's usually quiet which is something that she's heard other children comment about. She knows she's supposed to run around and be more active like children her age, but Leoben knows what she is, so she's not about to waste her energy in their room.

She appears from the doorway of her bedroom and sniffs the air. "You brought home pizza."

Alissa enjoys pizza. She likes the way the cheese melts on top of the bread.

"Yes, I know that you like it..." he smiled, softly, pushing down his nerves. "I'll go get the plates."

Leoben went to grab them from the kitchen, "My son will be released from the hospital soon."

"I am sure he will find your crib quite agreeable." She's looked at the crib Leoben made and has decided it's sturdy and fit for an infant.

She sits down at the table, but doesn't reach for the pizza.

"Thank you, Alissa." Leoben nodded. When it was clear that she wasn't going to reach for the pizza, he sighed a bit.

"I needed to talk to you about it actually... both Kyla and my son will be moving in..."

She is familiar with the concept that people in relationships sleep in the same bed and Leoben's baby is small so she doesn't think it will need much room.

"We will need more pizza." She takes a plate and a napkin which she unfolds and places on her lap. She's been studying people in restaurants for their mannerisms and this is one she's picked up.

Leoben watched her, carefully. He was worried that he might hurt her feelings. She might as though she had none or that her robotic side could control them bubbling up, but Leoben knew differently.

"Alissa, you know that I enjoy your company, yes? I like spending time with you?"

She finds the comment curious and looks to him. Her head tilts to the side slightly.

"Yes." Alissa finds some comfort in the knowledge, too, but she's not really aware of it.

"Good." he nodded, "Because I'm about to tell you something and I don't want you thinking it's because I don't wish to spend time with you anymore. Because I do. As much as you'd like within reason."

Leoben took a deep breath then continued, "Kyla has some misgivings about letting you live with her and her child. Because you are a Terminator... I'm sure you can understand her concern?"

Alissa's face remain impassive, but her thoughts are many. There's a few emotions she's not quite sure what they're name which frustrates her. They're new and most were unpleasant. While the shunt at the base of her skull works to try and level off the chemicals in her brain, she feels them to some degree.

She nods. "Humans of the Resistance are scared of Terminators."

He nodded slowly, "And I... want to live with my child." Leoben reached across the table to touch her hand, "I spoke with Ellen and she would love to have you stay with her. Does that sound alright?"

She looks at his hand when it touches her, then back to him. The touch is still comforting. "Ellen is nice."

Alissa knows Ellen's the creator of Leoben and so not all undesirable to spend her time with.

"I will move out and live with Ellen."

She blinks a few times and glances down at herself with faint confusion.

"Okay, thank you." he smiled, hopeful, that she would be okay with this, "I'll visit you regularly. Maybe we can even have weekly dinners at Ellen's." Leoben was sure that Ellen would enjoy that too.

She looks up and nods. "I would like that."

Alissa pauses. She's been trying to figure out what she's feeling.

"I think.... I will miss you."

He smiled, a clear sadness in his expression, "I will miss living with you as well, Alissa. I do wish things were different... that you could stay, but I just don't see it being wise."

Leoben didn't like to admit that though. He looked down at the box, "Our pizza is getting cold, perhaps we should start eating it?"

He nodded, watching her as he reached over to open the box to take a slice. Leoben knew there was a lot she was feeling but wasn't copping to, he just hoped she would be alright. But, Ellen might be good for her. They might be good for each other.

She starts to eat a piece of pizza. She uses small bites and chews enough times to make sure it's the most optimal for digestion.

Alissa pauses.

"I enjoy it." She likes the feeling of skating on the ice. "Do you know how to skate?"

"Oh." Alissa replays the conversation in her head and tries to see the joke. She gets it and expresses it by smile. Alissa's apprehensive to try a laugh.
