Just like any other miracle/You came in stride with/Those little kicks from inside (Multi-pup, OTA)
The last couple of months had been all sorts of miserable and amazing both. Hayley wasn't used to not being agile, comfortable in her own skin. Bulk and substance weren't something she was used to maneuvering through. But when she could feel the baby moving, there'd been a kind of warmth, of rightness, that she'd never expected.

The contractions started in the middle of the night, jerking her awake. At first she thought something was wrong, but when her water broke, that was put to rest. She sent a flailing message to Elijah and Rebekah, and then to Klaus as an afterthought. They'd talked about this--Elijah was big on planning, after all--and decided to take care of things at home. Yes, the clinic knew vampires and werewolves existed, and, yeah, she'd gone in for her check-ups there and everything seemed to be normal.

But this baby was vampire, werewolf and witch--a new species unlike anything else their world had seen, and all of them were a little worried about how this would go. So, Elijah said he'd do it, and had been reading everything he could get his hands on for months about childbirth. He was a mess inside, but he moved with his usual calm, sweeping into the room and taking charge.

Rebekah took care of her, helped her up to walk when she needed, got her ice, talked her through it, let her hold her hand hard enough that she would have cracked the bones of anyone but an Original. Now on board, Faye worked to keep Klaus calm and brewed some potion (or tea) she'd found in her Book of Shadows that was supposed to help witches giving birth. Hayley might not be a witch, but since the baby was, at least partly, Faye figured it couldn't hurt things, right?

There was pain, but Hayley decided it wasn't as bad as turning. Still, she screamed more than a few times. Wasn't like drugs would've done anything, though. In the end, she was exhausted, but feeling more triumphant than she ever had in her life. When Elijah laid her daughter in her arms, she found herself crying, looking down at her like she was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen...because she was.

Elijah was smiling nearly as much as she was, and after he and Rebekah got Hayley and the baby clean and comfortable, he went to let Klaus know he had a daughter. Faye was glad to hear it, though she drifted a bit more out of the way. Yeah, she knew she was important to Klaus, but this was for them. She set herself to cooking, figuring that stocking Hayley's fridge up with good and healthy things she only had to reheat was the most helpful thing she could do.

Elijah sent out an announcement about the baby in case anyone wanted to stop by and visit, then settled in to celebrate with his newly expanded family.

[ooc: Rebekah and Klaus included with permission. Come by any time--same day, another, and catch whomever. Just let me know if you want mama and baby, or Elijah or Faye! They've all got their perspectives. ;-)]

Hayley first and then anyone!
[ooc: Oops! I didn't see that she wasn't in the clinic! Fixed on edit. :/ ]

Zoe knocked on the door to see how everything had gone with the birth. Not that she didn't trust them to get it right, babies had been born out of hospitals and clinics for centuries, but she still wanted to check.

[ooc: no worries!]

Elijah let the doctor in with a smile, even if he was a tiny bit tense, just on the protective side of his miracle family--and the way Hayley was healing up even faster than he'd expected.

Supernatural healing or not, she was exhausted and had dozed off when Zoe arrived. She woke up when Elijah let her in the room, though, and greeted her with a tired smile. "Hey. Come to check on if we made it through?"

Faye was perched in a chair by the window, feet tucked up under her, studying the baby who was studying her back, and didn't do more than glance up before looking back at the baby. It was weird to Hayley, even more so now, seeing her double holding her kid like that, like it was somehow her over there, too, but she trusted the witch.

"No offense to your doctoring skills." Zoe said with a grin as she walked over to the mom. "I'm sure that you were a great midwife."
Hayley: Little smilelittlewolf_girl on February 5th, 2014 02:09 am (UTC)
"Oh, I just made tea," Faye said with a wave of her hand. "Elijah did the doctory bit."

Hayley smiled back at Zoe. "I'm glad you came. I mean, I'm fine, and she seems fine, but it's good to be sure..."

She was really more anxious about the baby than herself. Sure, the kid could heal her mom from the inside or whatever--that didn't mean the little...whatever-she-was was all good.

Of course, how you checked that, she didn't know, either? She looked human as far as Hayley could tell, though so did all the supernaturals in the suite.

Zoe glanced at Elijah, "I stand corrected. I'm sure you were a good midhusband? Male midwife? Huh I wonder what they call that for men." She flashed him a grin and took out her stethoscope to listen to the lungs and heart.

"She's a beautiful girl just like her mom." Zoe assured Hayley, "and I'm sure that everything is fine."
Hayley: Vulnerablelittlewolf_girl on February 6th, 2014 04:44 am (UTC)
Elijah laughed. "I have no idea. But Hayley did most of the work. I'll let you take over now and go make sure my brother hasn't passed out pacing."

He gave Hayley and Zoe a smile and slipped out of the room.

Faye surrendered the baby up with a shrug and a half smile and followed him out. The whole surreal thing was kicking in again.

Hayley watched them go, then shook her head and focused on Zoe with a smile. "Thanks for coming by. Elijah's great, but it's good to have a professional opinion and all."
Dr. Zoe Hart: smiledrhartdixie on February 6th, 2014 06:15 pm (UTC)
"That's me. Full of professional opinion." Zoe listened carefully to the lungs, then smiled at Hayley. "Plus I get to sneak time with newborn babies. Always a plus. Everything is working as it's supposed to." Her gaze remained on hers. "Everything okay with mom?"
Hayley: Little wolf girllittlewolf_girl on February 6th, 2014 07:52 pm (UTC)
"Good." She smiled with relief, gaze moving over the baby girl, still with a kind of awe, then looked back at Zoe. "As far as I can tell, yeah. It wasn't the hardest thing I've ever done, and I'm feeling stronger already, if still tired."

The benefits of accelerated healing, she guessed. Though the realization was creeping in that the next full moon was going to suck after a nine-month reprieve.
Dr. Zoe Hart: Doctordrhartdixie on February 7th, 2014 03:03 pm (UTC)
"Oh you'll feel tired probably up to and including when she turns eighteen." Zoe grinned, "but pregnancy tired, should go away in a few days. Do you have someone to help you until she sleeps through the night?"

Her not so subtle question to find out how involved the people were in her life or just for the birth.
Hayley: Little smilelittlewolf_girl on February 12th, 2014 02:44 am (UTC)
Hayley hadn't let herself think that far ahead, honestly. There were too many uncertainties. Her life was now tied to the most powerful family in her world, and while they'd been nothing but kind here, it was strange to think of how this would go at home.

But here? Here she felt okay, and she gave Zoe a smile. "Yeah. I mean, her dad and Faye will take her sometimes, I'm sure." She'd make them. Klaus hadn't had to carry her inside for nine months. He could do his part, now. "And her aunt and uncle are both really eager to be part of her life. She's...kind of a miracle, to them." First baby born in the family in a thousand years. "So between the four of us, cycling, we should all manage to do okay on sleep, I think." Plus, the vampires didn't need as much as she and Faye would.
Dr. Zoe Hart: smiledrhartdixie on February 12th, 2014 05:25 pm (UTC)
"Good. You should have bonding time with the baby, but you also need time for you. And you know you don't have to breast feed all the time. Breast pumps are good things." Not that Zoe knew that personally nor did she want to know it for a while. She was sooooo not ready to be a mother.
Hayley: *eyebrow arch*littlewolf_girl on February 13th, 2014 06:38 pm (UTC)
At twenty, Hayley wasn't really sure she was ready to be a mom, either, especially given the examples she'd had of how to be one. But sometimes things happened--you slept with a 1,000 year old hybrid and figured that, well, he's been technically dead for 1,000 years, right, so a condom was hardly necessary. Then, well. Oops?

Best oops ever, though, she'd decided from the moment she first held her daughter.

"Okay, that's good to know, for when someone else takes her." She doesn't like the thought of that now, no, but she does know it'll be easier for everyone if they rotate so the wolves and witches can get some sleep. "Um...is there anything I should know about breast-feeding her? Like...is she just gonna know what to do?"
Dr. Zoe Hartdrhartdixie on February 15th, 2014 02:53 am (UTC)
"She's going to know exactly what to do." Zoe assured her and trailed a pinky over the baby's cheek before handing her back to her mom. "You might have to help her find your nipple, but once she does, she'll get it.'
Hayley: Happylittlewolf_girl on February 20th, 2014 07:49 pm (UTC)
Hayley gave her a relieved smile as she took Thea back, settling her against her. "That's good. Elijah's gotten like...every baby book in the village, but sometimes you just want to hear it from an actual person."
Dr. Zoe Hart: cutedrhartdixie on February 21st, 2014 03:02 am (UTC)
"You know. There's probably a mommy and me group here or something like it anyway. Where moms get together and talk about things and the reality of it." Zoe grinned, "like for the first almost two years they'll be an eating and pooping machine." She laughed, "Not that I know that from experience, only listening to others."
Hayleylittlewolf_girl on February 22nd, 2014 10:08 pm (UTC)
"You think so?" Hayley looked intrigued. She'd poked around a little bit, but, honestly, between Tyler and the Mikaelsons and their various significant others, she'd sort of been surrounded the last few months and hadn't thought about looking for support anywhere else. "That would be kinda cool. I mean, the family's great and all, but no one else has had a kid, like, ever."
Dr. Zoe Hart: yikesdrhartdixie on February 23rd, 2014 03:02 am (UTC)
"Yeah, support of people who've been there is good." Zoe thought about it especially since she didn't have the best example in her parents.

"It can be an I'm not alone and oh my God why didn't anyone tell me fill in the blank here." She grinned, "man so much different from med school to the reality of never sleeping as an intern let me tell you! Not that it's the same thing but it's always nice to be prepared with others that know what it's like."
Hayley: A little vulnerablelittlewolf_girl on February 23rd, 2014 06:02 pm (UTC)
"That could be really helpful," Hayley said with a huff of laughter. "I mean, I'm not really used to reaching for people? I've kinda been on my own for a long time, had to figure out a lot of things on my own...it's kind of weird to think of doing, but...This isn't really something I want to do blind."

She gave Zoe a curious look. "Do you like being a doctor?"
Dr. Zoe Hart: Doctordrhartdixie on February 24th, 2014 02:42 am (UTC)
"I love it and I can't imagine my life not being one." Zoe smiled slightly, "I started out to be a doctor because my dad was one and I loved solving the puzzle of how to fix a heart. I was going to be a thoracic surgeon, then I got sidetracked in small town Alabama and now I can't imagine being anything other than a general practitioner."
Hayleylittlewolf_girl on February 25th, 2014 03:06 pm (UTC)
Hayley nodded a little bit, thinking about that. She honestly just didn't get a lot of chance to chat with...normal people, the way her life had been the last five years. She missed it, sometimes, "All of this has to seem really weird to you."
Dr. Zoe Hartdrhartdixie on February 26th, 2014 02:21 am (UTC)
"Yeah, it does. I mean if anyone had told me a year ago that werewolves, witches, vampires and heck even cyborgs were real I'd make you take a CAT scan for a brain tumor." Of course Zoe wasn't ruling that out as a possibility when she got back either.
Klaus Mikaelson: Contemplating - Sort of sadwolfvamp on February 5th, 2014 03:20 am (UTC)
Elijah ... But, I want all four of them at some point? XD
When Klaus received the message from Hayley that she'd gone into labor, emotion flared up and flickered from his core to every part of his body. Once his feelings had heightened, normalcy hadn't surfaced.

There were no other people that he'd have trusted to deliver his child than his own siblings. It may have been a hidden silver lining that Elijah chose to offer to deliver the baby, or perhaps his elder brother knew that it surely would be the best route to take, for everyone involved.

Klaus sat with Faye, on edge as he heard Hayley's cries. For a moment he'd convinced himself that something was wrong, and nothing could have stopped him from reaching out to Hayley and the baby mentally...but, nothing seemed too amiss. Hayley was strong, but Klaus hadn't had a reason to keep himself around women giving birth very often. He was nervous.

When Elijah came out, smile on his features, it was almost as if they were all human and his brother was an ordinary doctor delivering news of a new, healthy baby being born. His heart lifted with a sort of joy he'd never felt, one that confused him, and that confusion was evident in his eyes.

He moved toward his brother, embracing him and letting out a long breath. "They're both okay?" His voice was soft and he waited for Elijah to pull away first.
Elijah Mikaelson: [Klaus] Almost kissmanof_myword on February 5th, 2014 05:27 am (UTC)
Of course
Elijah was almost giddy with relief over everything, and that included Klaus's concern and joy both. He returned the embrace long and hard before pulling back to clasp his brother at the back of the neck, squeezing lightly.

"They're both fine. And you have a beautiful daughter."
Klaus Mikaelson: Contemplating - Sort of sadwolfvamp on February 6th, 2014 04:01 am (UTC)
"A daughter..." Klaus repeated back, reaching slowly to hold Elijah's outstretched arm at its bicep. "I...feel like I'm dreaming, Elijah."

A new set of nerves crept up upon him, ones that were composed of self-doubt: but, he didn't mention them, he didn't want to just then, nor could he even most likely.

"Do you think I could see her?" The baby, Hayley, both weighed on his thoughts.
Elijah Mikaelson: [Klaus] Helping with coatmanof_myword on February 6th, 2014 04:07 am (UTC)
Elijah knew him well enough to know that he had to be terrified at some level, and he squeezed lightly at his arm. "I know. It still seems impossible, but...she's perfect."

The baby, he meant.

"Of course." He tilted his head at the bedroom door. "Hayley's probably waiting for you to come in there."
Klaus Mikaelson: Contemplating - Sort of sadwolfvamp on February 6th, 2014 04:19 am (UTC)
Klaus wasn't trying very hard to hide his fears, at least not from Elijah.

He smiled at the word 'perfect' and nodded. He had no doubts that this baby would redefine the very meaning of perfection.

"Will you come with me, to see them both?" His voice was a tad shaky, vulnerability radiating from it and, really, his entire body.

Nothing would stop him from wanting to see the baby, from going in and seeing it, but he still waited for his older brother's response before making a move toward the bedroom door.
Elijah Mikaelson: *smirk*manof_myword on February 6th, 2014 04:28 am (UTC)
"Of course...though I'm not sure I'm Hayley's favorite person right now." He was joking, but he had just been bossing her around about pushing and not pushing and had his hands in places they'd never been in anyone except a lover.

...It had been a miracle, but he was also still rather old-fashioned in his sense of propriety and wasn't sure if the girl would be embarrassed now or not.

But he tilted his head and headed back, drawing Klaus with him.
Klaus Mikaelsonwolfvamp on February 6th, 2014 04:46 am (UTC)
The relief that Elijah agreed to go back with him shone on his face (he hadn't expected otherwise, but, he was emotionally and mentally all over the place.)

He moved toward the bedroom, an instinctual need coming over him to cover a large part of his nerves from the woman who had just given birth to his child. He breathed in deeply before breaching the doorway, but he altogether froze at the sight of Hayley in bed, holding their newborn.

He'd been in villages where women had given birth, had been nearby when Heinrik had been born. He'd held his baby brother in his arms after seeing the teeny boy in his mother's grasp, but nothing could have prepared him for the sight of seeing his own child for the first time.

Swallowing uncomfortably, he found his feet taking steps forward and toward the bed. Gaze darting back and forth from Hayley to the baby, he felt a wetness he hadn't anticipated at the corner of his eyes.

"Hayley..." He couldn't say anything else, didn't know what to say...but, wanted to voice so very much.
Hayley: Happy to see youlittlewolf_girl on February 6th, 2014 05:56 am (UTC)
Hayley was pretty much enraptured by her daughter. She didn't think she'd ever seen anything so perfect and everything she'd gone through the past few months, and even being bound to the Mikaelsons for all time now or something...it was worth it.

The little girl kept studying her back in turn. She hadn't cried much once she was in Hayley's arms, though she still seemed a little uncertain--probably at having the whole damn world around her rather than just the womb. But Hayley held her close and talked to her like she'd been doing for months, and she'd settled.

Hayley looked up and gave Klaus a brilliant smile--probably more of one than she'd ever given him before. The look in his eyes was stunning in and of itself, catching something in her throat. "Hey. Come see what we made..."

Even if he didn't remember doing it.
Klaus Mikaelson: Thinkingwolfvamp on April 2nd, 2014 12:14 pm (UTC)
No part of life had been particularly simple for centuries, and Hayley being bound to his family could lead to various complications, but somehow Klaus found the young woman and baby quite simple.

The simplicity allowed for emotion to fully wash over him, and he smiled back at Hayley along with the tears fleshing out from his eyes. He paid them no mind as he moved closer until he was at the edge of the bed.

She'd made the offer for him to come see, so, he didn't stop himself from sitting down very gently on the bed and looking down at the tiny baby in Hayley's arms.

Uncertainty played out over his features, his hand gripping in a slight fist, before he reached up and out, slowly, to run his knuckles over the newborn's cheek.

"I haven't been this close to a newborn baby in...so long," he admitted, his world now absolutely captivated by the baby herself. Something caught in his throat, and a light muffle sounded, and he smiled at Hayley again. "She's beautiful."
